Clara Marshall is a Licensed Clinical Psychotherapist and a Christian Black woman who was born and raised in North Carolina. With over 28 years of experience in County Mental Health Services, she specializes in mental health, substance abuse, and crisis counseling. After retiring from the county, she pursued further education to focus on working with individuals diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), as well as those experiencing stress, anxiety, and depression.
In her therapy sessions, Clara aims to help patients examine and emotionally process their experiences related to stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and other trauma-related symptoms. She employs a variety of trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), to help clients change how they think and feel about traumatic events. The primary focus of her sessions is to address negative thought patterns associated with depression and to reduce stress and anxiety.
Clara Marshall, LPC, is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Trauma and Counseling at Liberty University, where she is gaining advanced knowledge and skills in trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic interventions. Her doctoral studies include extensive training in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals diagnosed with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Clara is proficient in a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). As a military spouse, she has a unique understanding of the challenges faced by service members and their families, particularly in relation to PTSD. Her personal experiences within the military community have given her invaluable insight into the impacts of deployments, combat-related trauma, and the challenges of reintegration.
Clara's lived experiences, combined with her professional training from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, have deepened her commitment to supporting military members and veterans diagnosed with PTSD. She is passionate about providing compassionate and effective care that addresses the specific needs of this population, drawing from both her professional expertise and personal understanding of military culture.
